briansport dot com (it's still a brand new site, so there's lots to come; don't expect much yet).
I finally found a decent domain, and gave in and bought it. I bought my domain at namecheap.com for about $8.9/year, and have hosting from hostdone.com for $27/year with 200GB storage and 300GB of bandwith. I did my homework and was a smart consumer, at least I think so. I don't think you can find much better than that for a good price.
Anyway, so the point is, most of my effort this summer is going to be getting this website up and running. I'm working on the scripting a lot so far, and still haven't even completed a design scheme. You can check out what I have at:
[link] <-- which just leads you to the construction page, or go to
[link] to see what I've have so far. I said I'm working on the scripting, but I you won't be able to do anything.
I have the database set up, and a fairly secure log in and way of encrypting the user information. I still have to fix a tiny thing. I started using PHP sessions for the first time as opposed to cookies, so the password is stored differently, and maybe not as secure as it could be. There are still quite a bit of security things that haven't been set up, to help prevent hackers from attacking my page, such as blocking brute force attacks and such, but I already have some systems almost implemented, I just have to tie them into my site.
If you have any suggestions, by all means, please spill out your heart about what you think, what you think needs improvements, and any ideas you have. I'll fill you guys in more on the site, and more of what it's about.
I only bought this site on May 30th, and I haven't had a lot of time, and as a result of the hot weather, haven't felt motivated enough on some days to work on the site.
This site is going to take a long time, because I'm not using a pre-existing Content Management System, I'm programming everything myself. I don't want anyone to be able to hack my site by exploiting a CMS's weaknesses that can be looked up on Google, so I'm making my own, so I know how everthing works, and will more easily be able to fix any weaknesses. I'm going to be programming accounts, a blog, a forum, a project management system, a comment management system, etc. This was originally going to be a personal site, but I have dreams of making it a big site, that anyone can use (you can kind of call my idea the facebook for programmers and game designers). I'll give more details later, right now I gotta go! I can't wait to show you guys something more concrete. But when I get this site done, I'll be able to start working on some game design projects and 3D models.
